NOW AVAILABLE: U.S.-GERMAN STANDARDS PANEL SUMMARY REPORT

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), together with the U.S. National Committee (USNC) to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), and the German Commission for Electrotechnical, Electronic, and Information Technologies of DIN and VDE (DKE), has released a summary report of the 2023 U.S.-German Standards Panel.

Held April 4-5, 2023, in Washington, DC, and online, the bilateral panel brought together U.S. and German leaders and stakeholders in the standardization community to discuss digital transformation and smart standards, climate change, artificial intelligence, and the U.S. and European standards strategies. Panel sessions brought about rich discussions on the international standards landscape and opportunities for the U.S. and Germany to collaborate in addressing key issues.

Speakers highlighted the profound ties and transatlantic partnership that unite the U.S. and Germany, with shared values and an industry-driven approach to standardization. They explored current obstacles faced in the international arena, agreeing that standardization can offer solutions to societal challenges.

“There’s been a great amount of information sharing over the course of this year’s panel,” said ANSI president and CEO Joe Bhatia in his closing remarks. “We’re all leaving here today with a broader perspective, and perhaps some food for thought to bring back home with us. The sessions certainly shed light on some of the challenges and opportunities in standardization, and how we can identify solutions to address them together.”
